Why Most Small Business Websites Don't Convert

A pretty website isn't enough. Here's what separates sites that bring in real customers from sites that just sit there.

A website that doesn't convert is a brochure that no one reads. The good news: most fixes are simple, fast, and don't require a redesign.

Lead with the outcome, not your services. 'Same-day plumbing repairs in Austin' beats 'Welcome to our website.' Visitors decide in under 5 seconds whether to stay.

Make the next step obvious. One big button — 'Book Now,' 'Get a Free Quote,' 'Call Today' — repeated throughout the page. Don't bury it in a contact form three clicks deep.

Show proof immediately. Real photos of your work, real reviews from real customers, and any trust signals (years in business, awards, certifications) should be visible without scrolling.

Speak like a human. Drop the corporate jargon. Write the way you talk to customers on the phone. That's what builds trust.
